For every uniform, there is someone that had to sew those unit numerals. Frankly, its hard to get them lined up right! The solution is a single unit numerial patch. You can get your service bar added as well. Having sewn many uniform’s ourselves, we can attest that the parents (and the occasional scout) will be grateful.
Unit Numeral Sizes and Placement
Custom Unit Numerals can be 2 to 4 numbers. The number sizes themselves are consistent with the standard single numbers.
Troop or Pack unit numerals go under the Council Strip patch on the Left Sleeve. If your Unit has a service bar, that goes between the Council Strip patch and the unit numerals.

You can have your service bar included on the patch.
What is NOT OK to have on the Patch?
Your unit’s city is a no-no
As you can see from our historical unit numeral patches, adding a city and state were very popular. Like most scout leaders, we see value in encouraging civic pride. We later learned the reason that the BSA does not allow the city to appear.
It goes back to the founding of Scouting: “Scouting uses the uniform both as the great equalizer between youth from families of modest means and those who are well off.”
A Scout from Malibu or Upper East Side will be viewed differently from a Scout from Compton or The Bronx. Its best for the scout if they can escape the label.
If you are set on the “civic pride” aspect: just use a temporary patch! Better yet, celebrate an accomplishment of the Troop! We do sell Custom Troop Patches that can have your city on them. Here are many example designs.
