Organic Products
Organic products are very important for the sustainability of our planet and the health of people and ecosystems where cotton is grown. But what is organic cotton? It's a way of growing cotton that has a low impact on the environment.
Organic production of cotton achieves a variety of objectives: it replenishes and maintains soil fertility, it reduces the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and builds biologically diverse agriculture.
How do you know it's organic? The use of third-party certification organizations that verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production.
Why is organic cotton needed? Cotton is a very pesticide heavy crop. Worldwide cotton farming uses 10% of all pesticides and 25% of all insecticides (Darn those bugs!) Organic cotton eliminates this through crop rotation, natural insect predators, and natural fertilizers.
